Your character's name: Ping Ping Nationality: Fire Nation ((But resides in the Earth Kingdom)) Bending skills: Fire Nation Character's age: 17-years-old Gender: FemaleShort description (family background, appearance, etc): Ping Ping was born to a wealthy family that made profit over crops-- yes, her family are farmers. They are also greatly liked because they can travel from port to port selling their own crops that can only be grown in volcanic soil, to other countries. Some ports allow them to land there, but seeing how they are a fire nation family it is very difficult at times to sell crops to other countries; but since Ping Ping's family means no harm, they usually make an agreement. Ping Ping herself grew up as an only child learning how to farm-- she can successfully plant, grow, and harvest plants at her current age, yet farming isn't Ping Ping's favorite thing to do. Normally, she would sail to other countries on business to sell crops, but stay there for weeks or so before returning home. She loves to travel, and loves to see new people; she is a very kind woman. Another thing that kept Ping Ping's family from being hated around the world, was the fact that they cannot bend. Now that makes them dishonorable in the Fire Nation, but they remain a high social class in the Fire Nation because of their farming abilities. When Ping Ping turned the age of ten, she began to conjure up flames from her fists. Her parents soon found out, and instead of happiness were very disappointed in their daughter being able to bend fire. One a business trip to the Earth Kingdom, they kept their daughter there under the care of an old lady by the name if Xing Xhang. Now she resides with a generous old lady, and practices her bending now and then. ((She practices in secluded areas, and since she started at a late age to start bending she sometimes loses control)) ~~Ping PingHehehe, of course without cat ears x3! An RP example (8 sentences, your best): ~~ Honey-blue eyes watched carefully at her bedroom door, awaiting it to be opened by the elderly lady who had called out earlier. The body sat motionless on her bed, not wanting to get up and open the door herself. This particular day she felt a raging indolence pulse through her veins, and whenever that happened; don't expect Ping Ping to move an inch. Her ivory lids soon closed, her ebony lashes glimmering in the sun's light through the thin-glassed window. Ping Ping's pale, thin lips parted for only a moment to releave an overwhelming sigh. Even though it pained her to admit to it, Ping Ping knew she had to get up sometime or she would sleep the day away-- and this girl hated to sleep, surprisingly. With effortless attempts to get out of bed, she stood by her mahogany dresser and grabbed her normal attire. What would she do today? Xing has a large yard, isolated on top of a hill by the rest of the villagers. It was quite a walk to go in town and shop from the open-markets, but the large backyard with plenty of trees surrounding it, was enough to entertain simple-minded Ping Ping. But every single day Ping Ping would find herself lonely from just wasting the day away with no one else, so maybe actually taking that extra walk down into the village wouldn't be as treacherous as she made it to be. Oh, what to do... what to do...

Your character's name: Kamoku
Nationality: She's half Water Tribe and half Fire Nation
Air Nomad, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes, Fire Nation (choose one)
Bending skills: Waterbender
Airbender, Earthbender, Waterbender, Fire Nation, non-bender (please choose one, preferrably the one corresponding to your nationality, or no bending ability)
Character's age: 13
Gender: Female
Short description (family background, appearance, etc):
;;Appearance;;
Kamoku isn't really great with looks. Her skin is dark, like most Waterbenders. She is tall for her age, reaching about 5'6. Kamoku's hair is short, kind of like a warrior's and it reaches to her shoulders. Her hair is dark, dark brown, nearly black actually. Kamoku's eyes are dark brown as well, in fact they almost look black. These are all beautiful features, they just don't seem to fit right with Kamoku.
Personality
Kamoku comes from the Japanese word meaning shy, which is exactly what Kamoku is. She rarely speaks, and when she does they are usually one-word answers. Sometimes she doesn't answer at all. Her past comes to haunt her often, and even sometimes she'll just space out and completely lose it. She'll space out, and sometimes even start whimpering.
Her Haunting Past
You're lucky you have me to tell you this, because normally Komaku would've never told you...
Komaku's mother was from the Southern Water Tribe. In fact, she was a master Waterbender there, learning all the tricks and skills that it took to become a great legendary Waterbender. Her name was Migoto, meaning beautiful. Oh and she was beautiful. Her skills and beauty caught a Fire Nation general called General Ganjou's eye. He set a raid on the tribe, and captured Migoto.
For awhile Migoto hated him, but then she slowly fell in love with him. I say that she did for a reason. Migoto did not love her in any way, however he did love her power. He wanted to use her newlyfound Bloodbending ability to launch a raid on a small island. But he did not tell her this, he needed more Bloodbenders for the job.
Migoto became pregnant with Kamoku soon after Ganjou revealed his plans. When Kamoku was five, she demonstrated weak, yet prodigous Waterbending abilities. The three of them lived in the Fire Nation for awhile, and everything went well until Kamoku turned ten.
Ganjou told Migoto to train Kamoku to Bloodbend. Migoto protested, saying Kamoku was just an innocent little girl and didn't need to learn that terrible ability. When Ganjou revealed his plans, Migoto was stunned. She tried to run away, but Ganjou killed her instantly. Kamoku saw it all.
That night, a storm raging outside, Kamoku ran away. She travels on foot now, learning her Waterbending and trying to avoid Bloodbending at all costs. Kamoku performs in the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation for food, yet her real goal is to make it to the Southern Water Tribe some day by ferry, so she can live there in peace.
An RP example (8 sentences, your best):
"She's just a little girl!" Migoto protested angrilly, shoving her hands back and causing water to fly out of the pots behind her. Ganjou sighed and shook his head, placing a hand on her shoulder. Migoto shrugged him away. Kamoku watched from behind a curtain, her heart starting to pound.
"Migoto, you must listen to me. With you two bloodbending we can get control of Musha Island, it'll be all ours. But you must teach her.Ganjou said gently, placing his hand on Migoto's shoulder again. But his grip suddenly tightened, making Migoto cringe. Her eyes wild with fury, she pulled away and turned to face him.
"You never loved me at all, did you?!" She accused angrilly. "You just wanted my skills... my bending. Well You will not get it. I-"
She was cut off. Ganjou shot a bolt of lightening at her chest, and she collapsed instantly. Ganjou muttered something that Komaku couldn't hear before storming off. Unsure of what to do, Komaku ran. She ran away from her home, into the night.

Ok, thanks just one question. Since she's half Fire Nation and half Water Tribe, what would her nationality be? Just either would be fine?

Post by soraya on Nov 18, 2007 20:29:11 GMT -5
Your character's name: Soraya
Nationality: Water Tribe
Bending skills: Basic Waterbending (mostly fighting, some healing)
Character's age: 14
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her eyes are steely gray, with a few flecks of blue. She has medium brown hair that's a few inches past her shoulders. It's wavy, with a few small braids all around her head. She is five feet and five inches tall, and weighs about 120 pounds. Her body is built like a dancer's: thin, light, and not-so-curvy. She has slightly tan skin*, with a white scar along her bottom-right jaw where it was split open with a shard of ice when she was a child.
*It's lighter than Katara's but darker than Aang's.
She wears white leggings and a tight, white tank top under a light blue, three-quarter-sleeved tunic and a knee-length, light blue skirt. Her skirt is slit up to her hips, with ties criss-crossing all the way up (think of modern shoe laces). Around her waist is a light blue, white-hemmed sash, and on her feet are light blue shoes.
History: Soraya was born and initially raised in the Southern Water Tribe. Her family consisted of her mother, her father, and her older brother (Raiken).
As a young child, she liked to watch the few Waterbenders in the South Pole while they practiced. When she found out she could bend (at age six) she watched them even more, picking up very basic moves from them. Her life was very simple, and very carefree.
Then, when she was nine, she lost her father in a Fire Nation raid (the same one in which Katara lost her mother). A year later, all the men in the tribe who were over age 15 left to fight in the war. This included her brother, Raiken.
Soraya's mother, Oki, was saddened by the loss of her husband, and by Raiken leaving. So, she took Soraya to live in the southwestern Earth Kingdom. Soraya felt very secluded from her people there (excluding the rare blue-clad person she saw on the street). However, this is when and where Soraya learned much of her bending. She didn't have a teacher; rather, she taught herself, building upon what she had observed in the Southern Water Tribe. She created her own moves, her own unique style of bending (like Toph did).
So, for four years, Soraya and her mother lived in the Earth Kingdom. Then, in the early winter of Soraya's thirteenth year, she overheard a couple of other people from the Water Tribe speaking of a journey to the North Pole. Boldly, she asked to join.
While speaking with her mother on the matter, they said it would be alright, but Oki didn't want Soraya to go. Soraya tried to get Oki to come with her, but she didn't want to see her people and be reminded of her lost husband.
So Soraya finally argued that there was nothing left for her in the Earth Kingdom. She wouldn't be leaving anything she would miss, except for her mother. Soraya didn't feel like she belonged in the Earth Kingdom (there was something about those Earthbenders that she could never feel comfortable with). Oki reluctantly agreed to let her go, asking her to remember to visit. They said their goodbyes a week later.
The journey was long and hard. They (a small group of Water Tribe people) trekked to the northern edge of the Earth Kingdom, then chartered a boat to the North Pole. On the way, Soraya was fully exposed to the suffering that the war was causing on a global scale. Upset, her reclusive habits became stronger, and she talked very little.
When they finally reached the Northern Water Tribe, Soraya saw just how unique her bending style was. She was dismayed to find out that women were not allowed to learn fighting - her only other option was to learn healing.
She did so for a couple months (during which time she turned fourteen), finding it somewhat enjoyable. Then, the Avatar came to the North Pole. Soraya was very excited: here was proof that peace would soon return to the world!
Later, she heard that a female companion of the Avatar's was learning Waterbending - she was learning how to fight! - from Master Pakku. Soraya, thinking that this could be her one chance, approached Master Pakku and asked for lessons.
He told her no: "The girl, Katara, was accepted for special reasons. I have no further wish to betray our culture's traditions." Saddened, Soraya nearly gave up. But in her despair, she came up with a plan. It was bold, especially for her, but she gave it a shot.
At dawn, when Master Pakku gave his lessons, Soraya would hide somewhere where she could see him and his students bending. It was a lot like what she did in the South Pole, except she had to keep out of sight (and she kept out of earshot, too, as an added precaution).
While learning in this way, she had a few narrow escapes, in which she was nearly found out (usually it was Master Pakku who nearly found out, but once, it was the Avatar. That really made her nervous). However, she managed to learn a few defensive skills, as well as healing skills (from her previous lessons).
Then came the Siege of the North. Soraya was scared, and made sure to stay far away from the fighting (not that she was strong enough to fight anyway). Instead, she helped the children and elderly to safety, and even helped heal some of the wounded.
Soon after, the Avatar and his friends left the North Pole. Soraya hoped that they would end the war soon, and pledged to learn fast enough to be able to fight in the final battle against the Fire Nation.
Personality: Soraya has a lot of energy but doesn't show it. She's also reclusive, even more so after seeing the true effects of the war throughout the Earth Kingdom. Sometimes, she has trouble approaching people she doesn't know, especially Earthbenders (why Earthbenders specifically? She doesn't know). She can be determined, but is usually more passive in life. She go to extreme lengths to get something she wants, or to reach a goal.
Strangely, she finds that she won't (or can't) trust anyone very far, and isn't extremely close to anyone except her brother, Raiken. She keeps her feelings to herself, and is detached from the world. Overall, she has an impartial outlook on life, with some pessimistic and optimistic moments, but never completely leaning one way or the other.
Overall, she is polite and respectful, and doesn't have a temper. She uses calm reasoning to get her point across. People often misinterpret her calm demeanor as condescending and over-confident, and it annoys them. This is one reason why Soraya is reclusive: so she doesn't have to be in the presence of so many negative feelings towards her.
Soraya enjoys bending. It calms her, and takes her mind off the suffering in the war. She's never actually tried formal lessons. She finds that she learns well on her own, and through observation. She doesn't aspire to be a master bender, but bends more for pleasure and protection.
In general, she just likes to do things. When she sees a particularly cool bending move, she just has to try it. She gets restless very easily, and no matter how much she tries to suppress it, her vast stores of energy start leaking out. Once that happens, she can go on and on for hours.
Soraya dislikes people who obsess over the little things. She always tries to look at the big picture. She also dislikes loud noises, and chaos in general. When she's in a chaotic situation, she finds herself lost and unable to think straight, and tries to get away as fast as possible.
However, one thing she doesn't dislike... is the Fire Nation. Yes, she hates what they did to her father, she hates the one who killed him, and she hates the war they started, but she can't find it in her heart to hate an entire nation. If the war ends, if the Avatar wins... she will readily accept the Fire Nation. She won't trust them (for that is her nature), but she won't condemn them, either.
Soraya desperately wishes to see her brother again. She misses him terribly, as he was her main confidant; he helped her through life. Without him, and living away from her mother, she feels lonely, despite her reclusive habits. She also wishes the war will just end. She doesn't like hearing about and seeing al the suffering and fighting. It makes her wondering about humanity, and what is to become of everyone.
She really has no plans for her future. She lives in the present, and doesn't really see herself as growing up to be anything but a poor peasant who can Waterbend. She has confidence in herself, but only in day-to-day events. That is why - since she isn't anything, nor is she ever going to be anything - she decided she wants to face her fear of chaos and fight in the war, in the hopes of seeing it end in her lifetime. Then, she reasons, she will actually be something.
An RP example (8 sentences, your best):
After a long day of practice, Soraya returned to her home in the Northern Water Tribe. It was still strange to walk through the door and see no one else there, no one ready to greet her with a warm hug or even an acknowledging wave and smile. She never imagined living alone at the age of fourteen, but here she was.
It was so different before, she thought reminiscently. She thought of her father, long since passed away, but forever in her heart. When she was a child, he would pick her up and swing her around and she would laugh, and snuggle her face into his warm shoulder, and feel his big arms tight around her small frame.
She thought of her mother, now living in the Earth Kingdom village of Yasu all alone. Her eyes were always so reassuring, her small hands always warm to the touch. But she had changed so much when Soraya's father died: still loving, still caring, but not quite as alive...
And then, Soraya thought of her brother, Raiken. He would be nineteen now, though she had missed his last three birthdays since he'd gone to war with the rest of the men from the Southern Water Tribe. Raiken had always been her closest companion, in good times and bad, despite their age difference. She missed receiving his letters in Yasu, though she was sure her mother still got them.
Everything has changed, Soraya thought sadly. She wished she could turn back time, so she could just be an innocent eight-year-old girl living at the South Pole, not having to worry about the war, or the safety of her family, or the feeling of loneliness, because she was never alone then. Though she was six years older and a foot taller, she had never felt so small in her life.

Your character's name:
Haruko
Nationality:
Originally he was born in Ba'Sing Se. However he is the son of a rather poor family who trades crafted equipment from town to town, giving him really no tie to his birth place.
Air Nomad, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes, Fire Nation (choose one)
Earth Kingdom
Bending skills:
As a semi-skilled earth bender, Haruko can perform all of the rather basic martial arts moves of a Earth Bender. Kicking the ground to lift a boulder and use it as a projectile. Opening large fissures, forcing a enemy to fall or creating enormous pillars of rock to slam into his opponents body. However, during his travels through the Earth Kingdom, the only person who ever taught him and gave him a bit of direction in his bending skills was a former Dai'Le operative. Due to this type of training, Haruko prefers a more subtle and quick approach to his fights. Rather than shoot boulders at a foe, he would much prefer to shoot spears of rock, or the rock gauntlets around his arms.
Character's age:
19
Gender:
Male
Short description (family background, appearance, etc):
Growing up in a small family as a only child, Haruko traveled for the majority of his life until his 15th birthday with his father. From nation to nation (with the exception of the Fire Nation) he saw a large portion of the worlds beauty, developing a extremely deep and powerful love for the earth itself. It was in this realization that caused him to discover that he could begin to start Earth Bending. Nothing ever to extravagant, when he would get angry and start to yell, rocks would break. When he was happy and lying on the ground, it would get softer. Nothing that he was originally able to control.
His father, after having discovered this, couldnt have been prouder, and devoted a large amount of their journey in the search of a good teacher for him. Settling in a small city on the coast of the Earth Kingdom, he found a pleasant old, retired Dai'Le teacher. Slightly against his will, Haruko stayed with Master Takai. Haruko's father left his life with a smile and a hug, and to this day he hasnt seen him since. For the next three and a half years, Haruko trained in earth bending underneath his Dai'Le master. The training seemed rather criss crossed to Haruko though, rather than learn to make a stand and fight with everything he had (How he stereotyped Earth) he was taught how to try and predict the opponents attack, and fight using quick precise attacks with the earth rather than overwhelming force. Master Takai passed away afew months before Haruko turned 19, and since he left his school, he has been wandering the Earth Kingdom searching for his father.
Haruko stands just shy of 6 feet tall, wearing a set of training robes with the symbol of earth on each shoulder. His hair stretches all the way down past his shoulders, tied into a ponytail to keep from flying in the wind. He isnt incredibly buff for a Earth bender, rather more slimly built. His eyes are a pleasant blue color and the shaping of his facial features give off the impression of a honestly nice young man.
An RP example (8 sentences, your best):
Haruko woke with a start, sitting up quickly upon the rocky surface of the cliff face. The previous afternoon he had decided to make camp on the side of a cliff, his usual custom if the terrain allowed for it. This lowered his chances of being attacked by bandits or wild animal significantly, since it would take the skills of a bender to get to it without making any real noise. Breathing harshly, he looked up at the overcast night, not met by the comforting signs of a star filled night, but rather a bleak blanket of clouds. Sighing, he stood, looking off the edge of a small platform down the 50 foot drop. "What woke me", he asked himself, looking both below, above and around him for any signs of life. Just before he gave up his curiosity, he heard the sound of a coyote howl somewhere off in the distant, his question answered. "Well, guess nows as good a time as any to keep going". Pulling his pack over his shoulder and smashing out the embers of his fire, he jumped from the cliff edge and landed on the bottom with a resounding echo throughout the canyon, feeling little shock from the impact on the solid rock. Whistling a small tune that flowed rather well for walking music, he travel on.
