(I hope its not going be an issue with this character being female, seeing as how I'm not. Even if it is, I eventually plan to make another one, which will be male to balance things out~)
Name: Atma
Nationality: Fire Nation
Bending Skills: Fire Bending
Character's Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
Background: -
Born into a noble family within the Fire Nation homeland, Atma had a near-perfect childhood; the things she wanted given to her at a whim, protected in schooling from the...less-than desirable pupils, and guided every step of her life to help her toward a greater future. This 'perfect' idea of life, however, didn't sit well with the young firebender. At the age of fifteen, finally tiring of the sheltered and guided life her family insisted upon, Atma found her frustrations gushing from her like the flames she had learned to manipulate. Unfortunately, the anger and frustration chose the worst moment to finally surface; during school hours, while outside on a brief break from classes. Needless to say the violent acts against another student were not appreciated, and despite her parent's best efforts to first reason, then bribe, and finally beg for the headmaster to keep her in school, she was still told that she was to be shipped off and away from her home and sent to a school for students 'just like her'...which was to say, they thought she was a lost cause for simply stepping out of line once. On the night before her departure, Atma's mother - a wise and brave woman for her age of only thirty-two - woke Atma from a fretful sleep with a bag full of clothes, provisions, and what money could be spared. They had given most of it up bribing the headmaster not to see to it that she was forbidden from learning any further into her firebending, and kept from the other pupils at any school in the Fire Nation. Her mother said that 'She would rather have her daughter live a life outside of a home which would treat her this way, to be happy elsewhere in the world'. From there, Atma stowed away on a ship that was leaving the harbor, and was shipped off to the Earth Kingdom; now an outcast, and a refugee.
The next year that passed was one of her hardest, skipping from place to place, doing odd jobs, and only practicing her firebending in secret, away from the others she may not want to alarm of her heritage. While in a smaller Earth Kingdom settlement, Atma witnessed a small fight break out between two men over a small bump, an elderly man having accidentally knocked into a much younger, larger man. Despite the older man's persistent statements of it being an accident, the younger male still felt that he should 'Return the old man's insulting actions'. This, however, proved to be a mistake; as the young man moved to return the push with both palms, the elder shifted on his feet and swerved slightly away with surprising agility, fists shooting out in quick, short bursts that targeted not any parts Atma expected, like the face and stomach, but instead on his neck and chest. Needless to say, as the white haired man drew still and breathed in deeply to calm his body, the younger one fell to his knees and collapsed, temporarily unable to move from the points on his body that had been struck. For several days after the conflict, Atma followed the old man around, only to finally have him stop at his gate, turn around and look out into the seemingly empty street, and mutter, "I know you're there, young woman. If you wish to speak, you should speak, rather than trying to be my shadow. I'm much to fast for that, you know." It was this slight humor that made Atma smile, and as she revealed herself and explained what she had saw, and what she wanted, the older man agreed to do what she asked; train her in the arts of Dim Mak, which was the name of the technique he used to disable his large foe just those few days before. She has remained with the man, a non-bending monk named Jehniu who left his home to live peacefully in distant lands, for around a year, working for him by doing chores, cooking and doing errands in exchange for training and a place to stay, as well as food to eat. She is now sixteen years old, and almost ready to leave her master, having progressed quickly through his Dim Mak training.
(I tend to get carried away with character history, sorry.)
Appearance: -
Atma's hair is a soft auburn hue of red, mostly kept tied at the back of her head in a bun supported by more hair tied around it, loose bits of it often sticking out of it due to the tying method. Her eyes are a light brown near her pupil, which darkens as it reaches the edges of her iris, ending in a faint black line around it, the exterior of her eyes angular and well-shaped. A short, slender nose leads down to lips that, despite her being so far from home in a strange land, seem to be on the verge of smiling the majority of the time. Her skin was previously pale during her citizenship in the Fire Nation, but has grown to have a tint of brown in it from her exposure to the sun. She stands at five feet, four inches and has the slender body type to match it. She is most often seen in the slightly baggy monk's trousers given to her by her master, and dyed an inky shade of black to match the heavy boots on her feet. Despite the appearance of her being light on her feet, the boots themselves are held down with variable amounts of metal in the soles, to train her for speed and agility in the event that she must use her combat skills to defend herself. Her arms are weighted down in the same manner with packets of sand around her forearms and wrists, though these are covered by a thin, loose-fitting Earth Kingdom vestment. Around her neck dangles a small chain with an indistinguishable symbol; which is only known to her as a mutilated Fire Nation flame, something she keeps as a personal reminder of her rejection of her homeland.
Roleplaying Example: -
As she raised her fist to knock upon the door, it creaked open slightly. "Master? I have your tea..." she called, and though a fire was crackling in the fireplace, and she could see his feet from her position behind the chair, Jehniu did not answer her. Thinking he may have been meditating, or reminiscing on things long since passed, she wandered quietly into the room. She set his tray down on the table near to his chair, picking up his teacup, which felt cold to her touch. "I've no idea why you wanted it without me boiling the kettle, first, though..." She murmured, keeping her eyes to the floor, a strange foreboding feeling creeping into her stomach. He still hadn't looked at her, his eyes closed, face an unreadable slate. Finally, he shifted his hand and opened his eyes, looking almost directly up into hers.
"The time has come, Atma, for us to talk about your heritage, where you are from." He stopped here, raising a hand to silence her as she began to speak. "There's no need to protest, I know where you're from. I saw you over six months ago, practicing your firebending in my basement while you thought I was taking a nap. Not to worry, though, child...if I were going to say something to anyone, I would have by now...but still, I can tell by the way you're looking at me, you still wonder why. It is simple, child...you might be Fire Nation, and a firebender at that...but you are so different from them, you might as well be from the Earth Kingdom itself. In your short time here, you've made more of a home for yourself than I know you had there. I can tell, simply by the way you walk, and talk, and the actions that you take. Please, warm up my tea and we can talk further."
Though her mind was reeling that he had discovered her bending, when she had been so, so careful to keep anyone from seeing her, Atma couldn't help but smile at the trust she felt. Holding his teacup in one hand, and raising the fingers of her other, she briefly heated the tea until it steamed slightly, before handing it gently to her master. The same smile tweaked at her lips, and she lightly sank into the chair she often did, which was just off to her master's right side. "How silly of me, to think that you had actually been sleeping. I suppose I should have kept a better eye on you! I've never met an old man who could sneak around as well as you can."
Sharing her smile, Jehniu sipped his tea, slipping her a bit of a wink. "In the year that you've been here, I have never napped when you expected me to, or thought I was. I was giving YOU time to rest...or as it seems, firebend." He paused again, waving away her look of surprise. "You can't act as if you didn't really know, what with the way I collapse from exhaustion just at dusk anyway." Her master finished with a chuckle, both of them laughing for the moment...though, Atma knew, that a serious conversation would soon ensue...one about her past actions and 'life' in the Fire Nation, present, and what she would do with her future.
(Hmm! That's about it. I apologize if its a little long...I did my best not to drone on and on, but history and other little tidbits are important to character development. :] Still worried that I did something silly, though, for some reason. -shrug- Anyway, there it is! Thanks for reading! :D)

Your character's name:Lenea Lartamda
Nationality:Fire Nation
Air Nomad, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes, Fire Nation (choose one)
Bending skills:Grand Master fire bender
Airbender, Earthbender, Waterbender, Fire Nation, non-bender (please choose one, preferrably the one corresponding to your nationality, or no bending ability)
Character's age:56
Gender:male
Short description (family background, appearance, etc): Father and three brothers (Lenod, Letor, and Leboe)killed by earthbenders in the war and mother forced to give him up to army. In the Fire Nation's army Lenea learned fire bending skills faster than most thought possible and rose to the rank of Grand master in a single decade. He was then discharged from the army and banished from the fire nation for attacking his commanding officer, who was attempting to torture an elderly earthbender for the location of some escaped prisoners. 6'5" tall, very muscular with short flaming temper, but very protective of what he feels is right and those he trusts. medium length fair blond hair. abandoned fire nation garb for a simple brown leather tunic and breeches. wields a pair of long swords without handgaurds. only real armor is set of metallic gauntlets and greaves that are fire resistant and very sturdy
An RP example (8 sentences, your best):
Lenea trudged down the dirt path, throwing up dust with each step. he rose his head heavily at the sight of a small inn and pushed open the door to go inside. he bowed his head in an attempt to hide his face from the earthbenders around him. "I was told this place was in need of workers. if it is possible, could i find a job here?" the large innkeeper looked at him skepticly," what is it exactly are you looking for payment. these are hard times. I can't afford to pay everyone a fortune what with the war." Lenea rose his head slightly, " all i ask is a room and perhaps a few pieces of copper each day for my work."

I'd like to make a second character if thats alright.
Your character's name: Lee Silverwing
Nationality: Fire Nation
Bending skills: Advanced Fire bending (Master)
Character's age: 65
Gender: Male
Short description (family background, appearance, etc): Lee is an old fire bending master. He has long silver hair and almost always has a very pleasent attitude. He wears an old robe with a Fire Nation symbol intertwined with an Earth Kingdom symbol on the back, the chest, and the cuffs of both sleeves. He walks with a cane with a metal scorpion's tail for a handle (the stinger is at the very end of te handle's curve). He is Ninken Hatake's master and a long time friend of his family. After Ninken's family was killed, Lee became a sort of father/grandfather figure for Ninken. He is a wealthy man, but does not dress or act like it. He owns a blacksmith business that rades between the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. He has mastered nearly every form of firebending and created his own form that involves using sevral small fire whips to hit pressure points and shut down an opponents bending abilities. He owns the ship that Ninken travels on and all of Ninken's weapons, apart from a scythe that the boy carries with him everywhere.
An RP example (8 sentences, your best): It became clear that no one had the advantage here. The old man shifted slightly, clutching his cane with both hadns, while a band of young fire benders circled him. They had numbers on their side, but the elderly man had experience, and the element of surprise. "So you thought you'd make some quick money by robbing a poor defenceless old man? I pity you so much right now that is almost going to hurt me to do this..... but it is really going to hurt you... alot." The old man lept into the air, twisting the top of his cane and unsheathing a long kantana form the interior of the walking stick. Imediately lightning began to protrude from the tip and struck each of the young thieves. "Hmmm, wel how about that. That didn't hurt at all." The old man slid the blad back into his can and locked it and cheerfully strode off toward the shore, leaving a group of extremely stunned young men face first in the dirt behind him.

Your character's name: Dusk Storms
Nationality: Water Tribe
Bending skills: Waterbender
Character's age: 15
Gender: Female
Short description: Dusk has pure white hair that goes to her mid back in its pony tail. She is part wolf demon, thanks to her mother getting mixed up with a wolf demon. She has white wolf ears, and a long white tail. Her mother's name is Asliana Storms, while her father's name is Kyoguya. She wears the traditional Water Bender outfit, and proudly. She was very proud when she learned that she could water bend. She was the Last in her family that could. Not even her mother had the ability. She guessed it was because her father was different, but did not press the subject. Her bright blue eyes make many question her thoughts, for they show nothing more than reflections of light. Like an unemotional cesspool of color.
An RP example: Dusk walked along, her eyes half closed. It was daybreak, and she was on her way out of the Water Tribe. Unlike her mother, she was going to make something of herself. With nothing more than a small bag that was just large enough to carry some food, a water pouch, and a small blanket, she had left. She remembered her mother's cold words very clearly. 'You will never make it out there. You will come crawling back, and beg me for you place, and I will laugh, and send you away,'[/color] she had said. Dusk merely laughed and walked away. This was the beginning of her life, her adventure, and probably, her mistakes.
